WESTERN BRANCH BAPTIST CHURCH
We are located in Suffolk, Virginia. Western Branch is a church with a desire to Love God, Love Others, and Make and Mobilize Disciples in our city and around the world. No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, we would love to have you join us for our worship service.
WELCOME TO WESTERN BRANCH
Welcome! We are excited that you are interested in learning more about our church. In this high-tech world in which we live, I believe that relationships are important. Relationships are really what we are about: relationships with God and with people. As a result, we would love to invite you to join us in the future for Worship. We look forward to meeting you.
ABOUT OUR CHURCH
Our goal at Western Branch Baptist is first and foremost to love God. Secondly, we exist to love people. No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, we would love to have you join our Sunday morning worship service.
Xtreme Youth is for Middle and High School students and combines small group Bible study, worship, missions, camps, and exciting activities to meet the needs of our students.
UPDATE: CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19):
As the week has progressed our President, along with government officials, have made it abundantly clear that they would prefer us to practice social distancing and not gathering in groups of 10 or more. They are strongly encouraging these steps, in part, to minimize the potential impact on our healthcare system. Though they have not demanded that we refrain from meeting, it has been strongly recommended and the Deacons and I agree. Therefore, for the next 2 weeks we will cancel our weekly services and we prayerfully plan to resume on Palm Sunday, April 5th.
I hate having to make this decision, but I feel that we have an obligation to do what is right to protect the innocent and the weak, and to be good citizens and neighbors. We also have an obligation to not forsake the assembling of ourselves together as a church. Therefore, I will still be preaching and posting the audio link of the sermons HERE on our Facebook page, as well as, on our church website. These posts will be done by 10AM Sunday mornings and I encourage everyone to listen in and post your comments.
As I said this past Sunday, it is vital that we stay connected to our church family and keep our eyes fixed on Christ. As Corrie ten Boom said, "Worry doesn't empty tomorrow of its sorrows, it empties today of its strength." In times like this the world needs Christians who are not emptied of their strength, but rather strengthened by God's grace. So, take all of that energy from worrying and PRAY. Pray for the folks in our community and church who may be at risk. Check in on them and see if there are ways that you may be able to meet their needs. I hope that you will join us Sunday to listen in to the sermon and let us know you have by posting a comment.
For His Glory-
